Published on 18 August 2017
In this next Bluegrass guitar lesson we are going to quickly go over some of the most common Bluegrass chord progressions that you will hear. If you listen to a lot of Bluegrass you will probably notice that there are a few chord progressions that are used quite often. The most common Bluegrass chord progression that you will probably hear is the 1 4 5 progression. If you are in the key of G major those chords will be G major, C major and D major. Two more chords that are used quite often in Bluegrass music are the minor 6 chord and the major 2 chord. The minor 6 chord in the key of G is an E minor chord, and the major 2 chord is an A major. The E minor chord occurs naturally in the key of G major, but the A major does not. If you are really into Bluegrass you should probably memorize the one, four, five and six chords for the keys of A, C and G major. Try to memorize the sound of these progressions, and keep an ear out for them in the Bluegrass music that you like to listen to. Once you start to memorize the sound of each chord you will definitely be able to pick them out. - Nate Savage For more lessons with Nate Savage, please visit http://www.guitarlessons.com/
