GuitarBreakdown.com has done several lesson on the inspiring Jimmy Herring so a full description of who he is is probably not needed. But to say the least ... Jimmy Herring is a master jazz, fusion, blues, rock guitarist. He is an amazing teacher and has hosted some of the most amazing and inspiring clinics that I have seen over the years. Jimmy's guitar tone is so smooth with a great edge to it. And over the past few years he is sounding more like a slide player without using a slide ... His guitar tone and phrasing is very reminiscent of a vocalist. As for this lesson ... Carl breaks down two jazz blues licks that Jimmy plays during the clinic. Take these slow and try and work small bits and pieces into your own playing. To see Jimmy Herring play these lines himself ... check out this video ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zjLnzhShFk You'll find the first lick between 2:33 - 2:46. And the second lick is between 3:15 - 3:21.
