This lesson is for my graded repertoire lesson series which you can find halfway down the lesson archive page. When I teach guitar I have the student set up a model for technique and then they try to maintain that model when playing pieces. Therefore, straightforward pieces without too many weird shapes and stretches are very important. This piece is getting up there however so there are a few tricky spots but still very manageable. This is a very popular piece in the guitar repertoire. Prelude, BWV 999 by Bach (1685-1750) is an excellent piece exploring arpeggios, harmonies, and hidden musical lines. It is often followed by the Fugue BWV1000. You'll notice that the key of D minor cadences in A major at the end so having the fugue after really helps complete the statement (even if the two works were not necessarily intended together). There are a few specific fingerings to be careful about of so keep an eye out. Get the free sheet music and follow the video lessons.
