There are so many things that Lightning Hopkins left us guitar players scratching our heads about. He had a unique sense of time which makes replicating many of his tunes difficult to say the least. He was a free flowing kind of player.
Still, there are a few things that he does consistently in many of his songs. Keeping a strong double bass or shuffle type rhythm with his thumb is certainly one of those things.
This lesson introduces you to this finger picking rhythm technique. Of course, to really test your coordination, we're going to play a sweet little lick right on top of this steady bass.
