10 Blues Licks in the Style of BB King - A Complete Solo Over a 12 Bar Blues with Tabs
Published on 13 February 2017
In this lesson, I show how to play a full solo over a 12-bar blues in the style of BB King. All licks are in the key of C, and use the major and minor pentatonic scales.
I have other lessons out there that show how to play BB King licks over specific parts of a 12-bar blues. This is the lesson that puts it all together. I show how to play through an entire solo from beginning to end, breaking down each lick, and explaining the theory behind them.
I talk about all the fundamentals of the theory behind jamming over the 12 bar blues. It basically comes down to playing the major notes over the 1 chord, and minor notes over the 4 and 5 chords. There are some tricks to this, and some ways to break the rules. I talk about that in this lesson.
So, at the end of this lesson, you should have an arsenal of very tasteful licks, and an idea of how to use them.
