11 Licks from the Stairway to Heaven Solo - Guitar Lesson with Chords Explanation and Tabs

Published on 13 February 2017
In this lesson, I break down the stairway to heaven solo lick by lick - there are 11 licks in total. I break down all proper mechanics and walk through the difficult parts of each lick. Most importantly, I talk about what scale and notes are being used in each lick, and how they relate to the chords that they are being played over. So, in addition to the full licks and tabs, you will be learning how to play properly over chord changes. Most of the licks use the A minor pentatonic scale, but there are exceptions, particularly when the F Major chord is played in the backround. Because the natural F note does not fall in the A minor pentatonic scale, Jimmy Page tends to stray to the F note when that chord is being played. There are certain licks that I changed, either because I wanted to use a certain technique, or just to fit my style a little better. At the end of this lesson, you should have some new licks, and they theory to back them up! Enjoy!
