First of all, some of his pieces are difficult to unravel and for this reason, some blues guitar lessons don't really hit the mark. This isn't a criticism - Blake's work is open to some interpretation, especially as we have no film of him playing. On the other hand, once we think we have figured out some of his moves, trying to play it up to speed is very tough indeed. Luckily, his repertoire also include some slower songs and instrumentals that give us some insight into his fingering and chord structure. In this video, we take a look at Blake's ragtime blues guitar techniques and identify some repeating patterns, such as his rolling thumb work on the basses, and his intricate triplets played with two fingers (maybe?)
