You can play fingerpicking or hyprid picking. The Somewhere Over The Rainbow guitar chords are not really hard to play. The focus is on the dynamics - my chord melody arrangement is rubato, which means free time. Make sure to play the fillers quiet, while the melody notes are being stressed. In a chord melody arrangement the guitar chords and the melody are played simultaniously. So you're basically a one man band playing this guitar solo.
