Ragtime Bass Run | Blues Guitar Lick
Published on 11 February 2016
Guys like Blind Boy Fuller and Blind Blake are known for their fancy finger work on the guitar. When we think of their prowess, we usually think of their skill of pulling off a great melody over a thumping bass-line.
But, on many occasions, these masters would break the melody and rhythm all together and tear off on a well placed bass run.
This lesson is inspired by those quick and beautiful bass runs.
It pulls on the ragtime / swinging rhythm and tosses in a ton of chromatics to give your thumb a little workout!
It may be challenging at first, but start slowly and keep at it. Over time, your thumb muscles will get used to bouncing in and out of these quick bursts and you'll add a nice little break to a tune when you pull this off.
