Super Easy Jazz Guitar Lesson - Howard Roberts ii-V-I Jazz Lick - Guitar Techniques Magazine

Published on 16 February 2016
http://www.guitarBreakdown.com/ In this Free Guitar Lesson you will Learn a great Jazz Lick from the always impressive Howard Roberts ... Founder of the Musicians Institute (GIT). This is a really short yet extremely cool ii-V-I Lick. The difficulty in this Lick is that it is played pretty fast and has that great swing jazz feel to it. This Lesson is one in a series of many short Lessons we have over at GuitarBreakdown.com. These can all be found in the Free Lessons section of our site. The intent of each one of these "Quick Licks" Lessons is to show some really cool but short Ideas and show how you can take a simple Concept or Lick and create a bunch of other great Licks of your own. We will have "Quick Licks" based on all styles from Jazz to Rock to Country and Fusion. Even if you are not a fan of a particular style of Guitar playing we suggest you check out each one of these Lessons because regardless the style ... these short Ideas can be used in any style of music. In each one of these "Quick Licks" Lessons you will walk away learning a short 5 or 6 note Concept or a quick one or two Measure Lick ... which is awesome in itself. But then the fun begins. We will explore with you a bunch of different ways that you can expand on this Lick / Concept ... and really have it become a part of your own playing. The Lick you'll Learn in this Free "Quick Licks "Lesson is one based on a Lick that was featured in the December 2012 issue of the great magazine called Guitar Techniques. This is a really slick ii-V-I Jazz Lick in the key of F. It is one of those Licks that you hear the chord changes even if there are no Chords being played underneath. This is Lick number 1 of 15 Licks they offered in their series of Instruction on the late great Howard Roberts. If you are not familiar with Howard Roberts or Guitar Techniques Magazine ... I highly recommend subscribing to the magazine and getting this December 2012 back issue. Their Magazine is filled with tasty Guitar nuggets and from month to month it has yet to disappoint ... especially when it comes to the Jazz Section of the Magazine. Guitar Techniques Magazine does a great job of presenting these ideas and Licks ... with brief and concise explanations of what is going on in each Lick to accompanying Audio clips. The only thing missing is the step by step walk through of how to take the Licks Learned to the Next Level. It's always great to Learn a cool Lick ... but it is the exploring and experimenting with that Lick that will allow you to take away so much more from each and every Lick you Learn. This is where we come in ... we will guide you down the path of exploration. We'll give you the tools and direction you need to begin the journey of Learning more then just a single Lick.
